Christchurch Belfry

View from Christchurch Rooftop

Yesterday we visited Christchurch Cathedral and had a very interesting tour. We climbed some spiral steps to the top of Christchurch and were rewarded with this marvelous view from the rooftop. We also got to see the tomb of Strongbow, the seat of teh Church of Ireland archbishop. The Crypt and some costumes used in the TV show the Tudors.

Inside Christchurch Belfry

Included in our visit were the opportunity to ring the bells of Christchurch in the Belfry. You can see in our pictures that a few of us gave it a good try- those bells are extremely heavy and when they ring, they pull back on the ringer!

Ringing the bells at Christchurch

The bells of Christchurch ring ever fifteen minutes to let people know the time (or more often if there are visitors from Goirtin there!
